ILMJ (I love my job) is a refrain that I often see on my colleagues Facebook posts and it is fair to say that the majority of us do.
I think my challenge is to try to love everything I do, even the things I don’t like doing that much.
I suppose it is approaching everything with love. I came across Brother Lawrence, a lay Carmelite from the 1600’s a number of years ago. He believed in living in heaven here on earth. This struck and has stuck with me. I know I can either live in heaven or a hell; all down to my perspective and attitude.
Brother Lawrence didn’t believe either that he had to go to church to find God…he found it in the daily doings of life.
“Men invent means and methods of coming at God’s love, they learn rules and set up devices to remind them of that love, and it seems like a world of trouble to bring oneself into the consciousness of God’s presence. Yet it might be so simple. Is it not quicker and easier just to do our common business wholly for the love of him?”
” Nor is it needful that we should have great things to do. . . We can do little things for God; I turn the cake that is frying on the pan for love of him, and that done, if there is nothing else to call me, I prostrate myself in worship before him, who has given me grace to work; afterwards I rise happier than a king. It is enough for me to pick up but a straw from the ground for the love of God.”
I believe in a higher being and today’s motto has reminded me that amidst all the 1001 things I have to do today I can either do it alone or hand in hand with my higher being. I will be relying on the hope that food made with love tastes better 😆 and I intend to have lots of fun today as Mr D and I are having a party!
